Cellulite Afflicts 90 Percent Of Women And 10 Percent Of Men

Summer is here, which means you’ll be baring it all in bikinis, cut-offs, and short skirts for the next few months. You’ve worked hard to make sure you’re toned and fit for beach season, and you can see the results of those cardio barre workouts in your arms, abs, and legs. But when you turn around, it’s a completely different story. The cellulite you’ve battled for years is still holding on to the backs of your thighs, hips, and bottom, covering up the muscle definition you worked so hard for.

If it helps, you’re not alone. Cellulite afflicts 90 percent of women and 10 percent of men. The dimple effect is caused by enlarged fat cells pushing through the collagen structure beneath the surface of your skin. Luckily, new technologies in cosmetic procedures have cracked the code to erasing stubborn cellulite for a backside you’re proud to show off in a cheeky swimsuit. Two of the most talked about cellulite treatments are Cellfina and Cellulaze. So, which one is best?

What is Cellfina?

Cellfina is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that targets the architecture of the skin to improve the appearance of cellulite. It’s a one-time treatment, and the pucker-busting effects last a minimum of two years. Cellfina works by releasing the fibrous bands beneath the skin of the thighs and buttocks. These fibers, which are called septae, pull the skin down and are responsible for creating the dreaded dimpling effect. Once released, the skin relaxes and appears smooth, reducing the appearance of cellulite.

A Cellfina procedure only takes about 45 minutes. During this time, Dr. Sarosy can target between 20 and 30 dimples with the small, handheld Cellfina device. It works by applying suction to the skin and using a tiny needle to cut the septae bands. There’s minimal downtime following treatment, though you may be asked to wear a compression garment every day for a week. Cellfina is an in-office procedure and uses local anesthesia.

What is Cellulaze?

Cellulaze is similar to Cellfina in that its primary goal is to reduce and eliminate the appearance of cellulite. However, Cellulaze is much more invasive and comes with a healing phase that can take up to several months. Cellulaze uses a laser passed under the skin through a small opening. The laser melts the underlying pockets of fat creating the cellulite and then cuts the bands of septae to release skin being pulled downwards. The results of Cellulaze are long lasting, but it can take between 12 and 18 months to see a visible difference.

Cellfina Is Less Invasive & There’s Little To No Downtime Following Treatment

Both Cellfina and Cellulaze target the underlying architecture of the skin to treat the root cause of cellulite. This makes them more effective than topical creams and most other cellulite therapies. However, Cellfina offers several benefits that Cellulaze can’t touch. Cellfina is less invasive, the results are almost immediate, and there’s little to no downtime following treatment.

At SD Body Contouring, we’ve experienced a high level of patient satisfaction with Cellfina. We can confidently recommend the treatment to anyone looking to reduce the appearance of cellulite for a boost of confidence at the beach this summer. Give us a call to set up your free consultation!
