Breast Augmentation with Dr. Sarosy
We all have an idea of our perfect body. If yours includes filling out your bikini top and turning heads at the beach, breast augmentation, also called a mammoplasty, can give you the smooth, sexy curves you’ve always wanted. While the primary goal of the procedure is to increase the volume of the breasts, a “boob job” offers more than a bigger cup size.
There are many reasons to consider breast implants. Whether you’re unhappy with small or asymmetrical breasts or your breasts have lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss, a breast augmentation can enhance the natural contours of your body to create a more radiant, confident you. At San Diego Body Contouring, Dr. Sarosy will carefully explain your options and help you decide on the right breast implants to achieve your desired results.
Breast implant options: silicone or saline?
The type of breast implants you choose will have a dramatic impact on the look and feel of your breasts. Dr. Sarosy offers both silicone and saline breast implants and will provide a personalized recommendation based on your goals. Silicone and saline breast implants both have a silicone outer shell, but they’re filled with different materials.
Silicone implants are filled with a thick, sticky gel material that closely mimics the feel and movement of natural breast tissue. Because silicone implants are pre-filled, they require slightly larger incisions than saline implants. Many women prefer silicone implants because they look and feel more like natural breasts. Silicone implants are available to patients age 22 and older.
Saline implants are filled with a sterile salt water solution and are placed behind or in front of the pectoral muscle before being filled. This method allows a patient to have smaller incisions. Saline implants are thought to be a bit harder to the touch, but new technology has made them nearly indistinguishable from the feel of silicone implants. Saline implants are available to patients age 18 and older.
What to expect from a breast augmentation
At your surgical consultation, Dr. Sarosy will sit down with you to discuss your goals and explain what to expect from the procedure. In addition to choosing silicone or saline breast implants, you will also need to determine your incision placement: the areola, below the breast, or through the armpit. Each incision type offers distinct benefits that Dr. Sarosy will explain at your consultation. Dr. Sarosy will also recommend appropriate placement for your breast implants, either above or below the chest muscle.
Dr. Sarosy performs breast augmentations in our fully accredited, on-site operating suite with the support of an anesthesiologist and nursing staff. Following your procedure, you will stay in our recovery suite for a few hours before being released to the care of a loved one. You will be given aftercare instructions to help make your recovery as quick and comfortable as possible.
Post Breast Augmentation Surgery
Most patients experience some soreness and swelling for the first few weeks after a breast augmentation, but these can be managed with medication. We will schedule several follow-up appointments at our office to make sure your incisions are healing properly, and you’ll be cleared to resume your normal activities within a few weeks.
