What is Restylane and how does it work?
Restylane is a dermal filler that uses hyaluronic acid to restore lost volume, smooth out wrinkles, and improve skin structure and elasticity. It can even work to simply hydrate your lips.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies. It makes our skin cells bind and absorb water, adding youthful volume and texture. Young plump skin has plenty of hyaluronic acid, but as we age, our skin loses it, which leads to loss of volume and wrinkles.
A single syringe of Restylane in the mouth area can correct:
- Lip volume
- Smoker’s lines
- Smile lines
- Asymmetrical lips
- Sad mouth corners
- Lip fullness
- Lip hydration
For most patients, one Restylane treatment results in plumper, younger looking lips for up to 12 months. And because the treatment uses hyaluronic acid, the results are soft, supple, and natural looking as well.
The procedure
After you and Dr. Sarosy have discussed your desired results, he will cleanse and prepare the treatment area with a topical anesthetic to minimize your discomfort. He will then strategically inject the Restylane formula with an ultra-fine needle to help you get the results you’re looking for. Individual treatment times vary, but the process usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
The results will be visible immediately. You may experience some minor swelling and bruising in the first day or two, but Dr. Sarosy will provide you with post-procedure instructions to minimize these side effects. It is important that you follow all instructions carefully to reduce the risk of complications.
