Abdominoplasty, better known as a “tummy tuck”, is a surgical procedure used to reshape your abdomen. This procedure is very popular with women who are done having children. Patients who need to have excessive loose skin removed or stretch marks, the results can be dramatic, particularly if combined with liposuction. This procedure is perfect for those who desire to have a flatter and tighter stomach.
A tummy tuck is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia and it involves an incision around the belly button and another incision that runs hip to hip. Your entire abdominal wall is tightened with permanent sutures, and the excess skin and fat are removed. Small drains are inserted to eliminate fluid buildup. Time that is needed off from work is usually 10-14 days.
The procedure is done in our fully accredited, onsite operating room in our San Diego office. The procedure itself can take anywhere from 2-3 hours. Normal activity, such as walking San Diego’s famed Gaslamp Quarter or Temecula’s Historic Downtown can be resumed within 2 weeks.
